    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use the tripod or quick release?

The hardware has a tripod holed milled into it for tripod use. If you use quick release we recommend the Universal Tripod Adapter Plate or Universal Arca Swiss L-Bracket.

    https://www.cottoncarrier.com/collections/accessories-1/products/l-bracket

    Women's sizing

The harness system is one size fits all with 6 points of adjustment. We get lots of positive feedback from woman photographers.

Sizing for larger or smaller individuals

The systems are one size fits all, spanning 26" to 57" inch waist measurements.

    Return Policy

3 week no questions asked returns and 3 year technical warranty.

Does the system work for large telephotos like a 600mm?

The carrier will not fail under the weight of your camera/lens setup. A 600mm will place your weight forward and for some, it becomes a bit awkward. The system will not fail, but it becomes a subjective matter of comfort.

Can I add another camera or binocular holster after?

Yes, we offer a modular side holster with camera or binocular hardware. Or the individual hardware for camera or binoculars can be purchased independently.

Can I put my camera into the binocular carrier's receiver? Or vice versa?

All hardware uses the same twist and lock system, so you can place your camera or binoculars interchangeably in any receiver.

    Works well but very broad

This would suit full frame size lenses. I shoot MFT so the lenses are more compact.

It is very wide but still fairly shallow. Works very well, however. It does have a draw string at the top to change the diameter, but taller items really need the dry bag that clips in to make me feel comfortable. This approach works well for a water bottle too!

Excellent addition to the sling belt system.

    Why Not

Well, here it is, the inevitable unwarranted 'leave a review' e-mail I received that I never solicited. A great way to get the 'ole ego pumped up, like my special opinion is super important because I bought something.

Go me! I do get it; it's just marketing and goes along with all the clingy stuff that comes with buying something these day. I'm a professional 15 year full-time sports photographer, or was until this global pandemic sorts itself out. These days I'm not much of anything.

I do like these products. They are very well made but expensive by about 20% and specific to a single use function because I often need to strap other stuff to my camera, like a tripod or monopod... so have to untangle and unscrew everything, which can be annoying.

Doesn't work for e-bikes, so if it just works for hoofing around, fine.

You will definitely look a little geeky sometimes, hanging gear all your body, like you are on a mission to be one of the best. Nat Geo here we come!

But! So be it, we photographers do like to look cool. I use gear when I need it and it does come in handy to have well-made stuff. I'm just saying keep it all in perspective folks; we aren't models, this isn't Hollywood and the gear won't make you a better photographer.

4/5 for quality and fast delivery; points are lost for price and for soliciting me to write this pointless review. 3/5.

    Useful but fiddly

Active users are layering and unlayering so the belt should be easily adjustable.
This isn't. It has to be taken off.
Why not use a backpack type of belt?

    Convenience Bucket

We used these as our convenience bucket for drinks, batteries, lens and some dried food etc .. though pricey but fitted very well with the slingbelt but for the harness wish there was some velcro landing area to secure it. In any case, good addition to our existing system.

    A good start

I'm not disappointed with this product, and I can see I'll get good use out of it. Still, here are some constructive observations:

    1. This dry bag does not appear to be designed for real immersion, but only for "weather protection". Seems like an easy win to step it up here.

    2. Both clips on the bag are female, and both clips on the bucket are male. If there were a male and a female buckle on both the bag and the bucket, and if the buckle straps were adjustable, then you'd have a ton more options, like securing my own dry bag with a top strap.

    3. The fabric is heavy. This definitely is a carry system meant for day hikers, or urban photographers. Which is fine. It's just not for wilderness trekking.

    4. This is designed for a belt, and there isn't provision made for a shoulder strap or a daisy chain. So mounting options are limited.

    5. The checkout process was confusing. At some point I was offered a chance to specify what bags I wanted? But in the checkout process my choices weren't indicated, and indeed, what I specified didn't come in the box. In the mean time, the product description doesn't make it clear whether the bags are in there, and if so what bags. The product images clearly indicated a bucket, a small bag, and a large bag, but I just wanted that extra assurance that what I saw pictured was in fact what I ordered. (Spoiler: it's a bucket, a large bag, and a small bag).
