Cotton Carrier Enthusiast Wins Award!

Our friend, and brilliant wildlife and landscape photographer, Connor Stefanison, has won 1st prize for Best in Show for the North Shore Challenge.

The really interesting thing about Connor, is that in viewing his portfolio you will find it is all world-class work…all at the the age of under 20 years old!

Connor’s stunning work is full of images a seasoned pro would be thrilled with, and you can see more of him at www.connorstefanison.com

Keep your eye on this young talent over the next few years…and decades to come!

Here is a little more on the contest which Connor’s otherworldy image from Mamoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone cinched the award.

“The North Shore Challenge brings together CAPA camera clubs throughout British Columbia and the Yukon, and is regarded as one of the biggest CAPA contests of the year. Each club enters ten images of any subject matters, and a group of three professional judges score each image. My club (Lions Gate) has a history of winning this competition, although this year we scored 2nd place. On a brighter side, i was fortunate to have my image earn Best in Show. I took this image of Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park this past new year’s day. Many think a lot of work has been put into this image, but it is simply a single image with minor adjustments.”

REVIEW: The Human Pace takes the Cotton Carrier for a hike.

Kevin Smith of the website “The Human Pace” put our system through the paces.

“…the Cotton Carrier system works really well. The construction is solid, and so far, has withstood many hikes and multi-day backpacking trips through the Sierra Nevadas. The accessibility to the camera, without having to carry it in your hand or dig in your backpack, is exactly what I wanted…

With the Cotton Carrier you’ll never walk away from a great outdoor shot because your camera is inaccessible. I’ve been very happy with it overall. The vest is now a part of my “Must Take” list for every backcountry adventure.”

Cotton Carrier on Sonora Pass

Ben Fullerton writes in: “I was the other photographer who shot the Gold Rush Adventure Race with Sam Salwei a few weeks back, and you guys hooked us up with Cotton Carrier rigs. First off I just wanted to say thanks, and that we absolutely loved them! At first I thought it was pretty cool, but wasn’t really sure if it was that big of a deal, then I had the realization that I had been wearing my camera for 14 hours straight and was perfectly comfortable. It was then that I realized how revolutionary of a concept this was.

We got tons of good use out of them, and have lots of good field anecdotes and feedback.

The day after the race, Sam, Brian (the film producer) and I shot a short little video piece to have some fun and highlighting the Cotton Carrier while we were at it.

Thanks again for hooking us up. We look forwards to growing a relationship with such a great product and company.”

Bear Necessities

Our friend and esteemed Canon of Explorer of Light, Lewis Kemper recently took a trip to Lake Clark, Alaska, where the opportunity to shoot bears has never been so abundant.

Lewis had an assortment of long lenses with him to capture these magnificent creatures from safe distance, and found the use of the Cotton Carrier Steady shot to be invaluable. Lewis had this to say about the experience:

“This was also the first trip using the Cotton Carrier Steady Shot, which fit nicely in the back pocket of the photo vest. When the 800mm got to be too much I would take off the camera with the 100-400 and mount that on the Steady Shot and be ready to go! In the past I had just hand held the 100-400 when doing this kind of work, but the advantage of the Steady Shot was I could always have the camera at the ready without every having my arms get tired. This was a real blessing when I did a two hour boat tour in Homer after the bears.”

You can check out more on Lewis at www.LewisKemper.com and if you want to really learn from this pro, join him on one of his photo tours for the experience of a lifetime!
